About Steven Harry Markowitz

Steven Harry Markowitz Steven Harry Markowitz. Steven attended Otis Art Institute on summer scholarship in the late 1970s. In the 1980s he completed the CAP (compositing and arranging) program at Dick Grove school of music where he had the opportunity to study under many greats including Claire Fisher. He also enjoyed brief (single session) studies with Tom Scott, Lalo Schifrin, David Angel, & Bill Conti ("Rocky"). He has been creating music since he was 6 years old. He enjoys improvising at the keyboard and has wowed local audiences for more than 10 years with his free-form improvisational styling which boldly blend classical and jazz influences. His compositions have been performed by a member of the New York Philharmonic and many celebrated musicians around the world. In 2013 his chamber works were world premiered in Romania, New York, Boston, and accross the Appalachians. Steven is the son of Nobel prize winner Harry Markowitz, coinventor of the SimScript programming language (used to simulate world events). Stevens art related projects include his BFS (bitmap from script) system which he initiated in 2007. This ongoing project uses, at its heart the C# programming language, to generate "from the ground up" a low-level - pixel centric - graphical output. Steven spends many months fine tuning scripts and curating the imagery thus created.
